Stacie Rose
Shadow & Splendor

Take Note: Rutherford, New Jersey-based
Singer-songwriter Stacie Rose is one to watch.
After listening to her 4-song EP, a sampling from her upcoming release, Shadow and Splendor, I felt I had discovered a rare talent. In four honest, pull-at-the-heart songs, Rose delivers her messages and her essence of honest song-writing, powerful lyrics and sugared vocals. I can’t wait to hear more.

Her voice is powerfully sweet, with hints of youthful innocence along the lines of Vanessa Carlton, a touch of Sheryl Crow’s maturity, and a dash of upbeat pop-ability like Stacie Orrico. “Consider Me”, the first track, is a light acoustic guitar-driven pop-rocker, highlighted by the harmonica seemingly about heartbreak (“consider me gone”) Track two, “Disaster,” has the same pop-rock appeal, a number about the truths of some relationships and a bit of regret(“If I’d had known what you were after, I would have told you, told you, I’m a disaster”) “High As the Moon” is a slowed down number with a piano intro. This is one of my favorites, a very touching tune and very real about wondering where things went wrong in a relationship. There’s a noticeable amount of emotion and longing in her voice. The last track, “Be Real” is a melodious, jazzy, light-rock number about well, being real. And Stacie Rose is definitely real and worth a listen. Really. —KS
