SHADOW and SPLENDOR mixes feminine gentility
with gutsy honesty. The sweet hooks and soulful voice
come from Stacie Rose, a young singer-songwriter
based in New Jersey (of all places). But this isn't your
dime a dozen, girl with a guitar act, she's the real deal.
Rose's album is co-produced by Robert L. Smith (Bowie,
Rickie Lee Jones), and gathers a circle of well-knowns
for the recording, adding to the polished range of the
songs. From the psychedelic "Guru” to the country
tinged "Consider Me", Rose's voice is fresh, easily
adapting to each diverse tune. You'll be pleasantly
surprised by the minimal approach to to her cover of
U2's "New Year's Day" Rose isn't quite Cat Power yet,
but there's plenty of time —Celine
